On July 8th, 2012, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office located two runaway juveniles in Aurora that had been reported missing from Onslow County.  While the juveniles were in the custody of the Sheriff’s Office, Deputies learned that one had been a victim of sexual assault at a residence on Cayton Landing Road and a wooded area on Mary’s Chapel Church Road.  Investigators conducted several interviews and collected evidence.
On August 10, 2012, Lieutenant Jamie Cahoon applied for and obtained warrants charging Martin David Brinson, age 22, of Mary’s Chapel Church Road in Aurora, NC, with five(5) counts of Statutory Rape of a Person Who is 13, 14, or 15 Years Old by a Defendant Who Is at Least Six Years Older Than the Victim and one(1) count of Statutory Sexual
Offense Against a Person Who Is 13, 14, or 15 Years Old by a Defendant Who Is at Least Six Years Older Than the Victim.  Brinson turned himself in at the Magistrate’s Office and was brought before Magistrate Eric Holmes.  Brinson was held on an $80,000.00 secured bond and confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center.
