On April 3, 2012 at approximately 10:45 p.m., Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Sergeant Jeremy Hewitt was patrolling the Highway 99 South area of Belhaven when he observed a red Chevrolet Impala operating in a suspicious manner.  The vehicle ran off the roadway then turned down a farm path.  Sgt. Hewitt followed the vehicle and attempted to make
contact with the driver after it parked behind a barn.  Sgt. Hewitt found the vehicle abandoned.
Sgt. Hewitt then made contact with the registered owner of the vehicle, who reported the vehicle
had been stolen.  The vehicle was returned to the owner and the Sheriff’s Office began an investigation.  Evidence was collected and potential suspects were interviewed.
As a result of the investigation, Investigator Wesley Waters applied for and obtained Juvenile Petitions charging two 14 year-old juveniles with one(1) count each of Felony Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle and one(1) count each of Felony Larceny of a
Motor Vehicle.
