On February 14, 2012, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a dog had been shot on the owner’s property on Keysville Road in Washington, NC. Deputies responded to the scene and began an investigation. The injured dog was located and Animal Control Officers were called to the scene. The dog later died from its injuries.
As a result of the investigation, Investigator Jim Adams applied for and obtained a warrant charging Michael Ray Duncan, age 44, of Keysville Road in Washington, NC with Felony Cruelty to Animals.  On March 29, 2012, Duncan turned himself in and was taken before Magistrate Donald Sadler where he was released on a $5,000.00 unsecured bond.
