On Monday, Auguest 24, 2009 local Ham radio operators installed a new VHF, or 2 meter repeater near Bath.   Beaufort County has been without a local VHF repeater for nearly 10 years.  This new system will provide much needed emergency communications to the citizens of Beaufort County.   The local Hams would like to thank John Pack, Beaufort County's Emergency Manager for his  help in finding a suitable tower location and much needed installation suport.  The repeater's frequency is: Output-146.955,  Input-146.355 with a PL tone of 82.5.  All Hams are welcome to use this repeater, especally during disasters to report conditions to the Beaufort County Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
